Playing an instrument helps one relieve stress and anxiety, which is very essential for one to maintain focus. An average human mind gets 65,000 thoughts in a day out of which we choose to react on a handful of them, and the once we choose to react on defines us. When you play any instrument you have to become one with the instrument it is more of a sadhana until then you cannot achieve harmony both internally and externally. It just doesn't help you, its a cure for any distressed mind that comes in its magical vicinity. So next time you pick up that instrument don't think of yourselves as nothing less than a monk for what you are doing demands discipline.
2: Plan your day in advance:
My dad used to say it often that "failing to plan is planning to fail". When you are entering the next day without fail plan your day. When you plan your day your mind is devoid of distraction because it already knows what do next and won't have to ponder or act upon instinct or be whimsical. Set reasonable targets for yourselves like reading the book for half an hour initially then increase your attention span slowly and steadily day by day. Most successful people in the world are so focused that they have their coming months planned in advance so that there is no room for uncertainty in life.Elon Musk uses time blocking method to divide his day into various segment in hours and further he divides his hours into micro minutes for flexibility and that's how he harnesses the inexhaustible focus and improved concentration.
3: Meditation:
Very few people in the world are aware of the mind-altering power of mediation. It's just the most invincible thing I have ever come across in my life. It has the power to relax your entire body with just a simple thought....in layman terms, mediation is the power to stop the origination of thoughts and simply feel the internal mechanism and the silence within us. After a month of practice, I found myself more focused, more relaxed and found a connection with the world around me and everything multiplied 3 folds. There are different types of meditation but my all-time favorite is Transcendental meditation.....try it and thank me later. Especially if you are having trouble focusing on your studies.
4: Temperature:
Surprised? ...I was also when I heard about this amazing fact and how it has the power to really influence your focus on whatever you are trying to accomplish. You might have found that whenever you are working in an office it's easy to maintain the focus while you can't replicate the same when you are working from the comfort of your house. The answer is our office has an intricate intelligent system installed which continuously monitors the cumulative temperature of the surrounding at tries to maintain it around the optimal temperature for working between 21 to 23 degrees celsius. Remember these temperature guys next time you ask Alexa what is the room temperature in the thermostat make sure it is around this magic temperature for optimal focus ...cheers.
